Membership: Barb and Donna are trying to find some photos to use for the tri-fold brochure. They are working on updating the brochure.
Corinna was at a BU event where she signed up 6 student volunteers for our clean-ups. Corinna recommended that we try to have our own table at this event next year, as it is a worthwhile way to get the word out to BU students about JC Partners. Maybe we can have a raffle or give out coupons for
Cruze-Inz: Corinna reported we received overwhelming kudos on the September Cruze-In. There were 18 Veterans in attendance-we had raffle prizes for the Veterans. Corinna suggested we should do the same thing next year. The CHOW bus will come next year. We can try to get the bookmobile to come
to one of the Cruze-Inz in the summer. Thank you letters are being sent to sponsors and those who made donations. We need to discuss how to draw more people from Johnson City. We may change the day back to the third Thursday of the month.
Carousel Day: Corinna spoke with someone at Family Enrichment Network who is interested in organizing the event, but has a conflict with the date that it has been held on in the past.
Gatherings at the Gazebo: Corinna has some groups who are interested in singing at these events. She will offer Thursdays and Saturdays from 6-7PM in the month of December. She would like more JCP members to try to attend this year.
Downtown Clean-up: Will be held Sat. Oct 22 at 9AM-we will meet for cocoa or coffee at the Red Robin, then decide if we will go ahead with the clean-up, depending on the weather. We have a waiver form for volunteers to sign.
Lorraine is the person who planted wildflowers in some of the tree boxes this year. We will ask her if she will take care of the small planters in front of Village Hall next year. We can reimburse her for some expenses if she agrees to do it.
CFJ Park Project: Julie reported that the concrete pads have been poured for the benches. The benches should be here within a week and will be installed by DPW. We are working with Bullseye signs for a plastic laminate or metal plaque to put on the benches.
We received $1000 donation last year from someone who wanted us to purchase and install some play equipment in the park, in memory of her loved ones. Julie is researching this and has found a bumble bee ride-on with a c-spring as one option. We discussed having a sign or plaque inside the carousel
regarding this donation and sponsors.
Bob Bennett will tell us where we can place the trees in the spring, as there are many places in the park where they don’t want holes to be dug.
.New Business: The JC Holiday Parade is Thursday, Dec 1 st this year. We discussed participation by JC Partners. We will email and see if enough members are interested in being part of the parade. We need to be thinking about officers for the Feb. 2017 election.
Julie wrote a Thank You letter to Williams for the $2500 grant, on behalf of JC Partners.
The November meeting will be Nov. 16 at 7PM. We decided to change the December meeting to Dec 14 at 7PM. If JC Senior Center is not available, we will consider meeting at Dunkin Donuts.
The meeting was adjourned at 9:00PM.
