Julie thanked Orin for making a sign that we used in the Johnson City Holiday Parade and she thanked Dottie for driving her car in the parade.
Fundraising: Julie stated that our organization needs further funding to meet our expenses and to have resources for the events we have planned.
Barb is suggesting a membership drive to obtain new members and encourage people to make donations.
Julie suggested that we draft a letter about membership in Johnson City Partners and each of us bring names and addresses of 10 people we know in the community. We need support from residents of JC in addition to the businesses.
Ken suggested that we try to plan an event that involves both businesses and the public, such as a Silent Auction with products and services from businesses, non-profits, artists and individuals. He thought we might be able to approach the owner of Spool Manufacturing Art Gallery.
Carol will pursue a fundraiser with McDonald's on Main Street, JC.
Dottie has been trying to plan a fundraiser involving square dancing or line dancing, but all of the bands she has contacted require a down payment. Corinna has some names she will give to Dottie.
Bylaws meetings: Our plan is to present the revised bylaws to the membership at the Feb. Meeting and vote on the bylaws at the March meeting. The bylaws committe is meeting at Dunkin Donuts on Reynolds Rd on Jan 22, 28 and 30 at 6:30 PM, if the meeting room is available.
Marketing: Orin designed a quarter sheet information card about JC Partners which we can distribute to the Library, the hospital and other businesses. The website is included on the card for more information.
We need to print some copies of the brochure. It was suggested that we wait until after the election of officers, so that we can include names in the brochure.
JCRP: Julie reported on the progress of each of the projects in the program. There is a metal fabricator in Harpursville that we will be visiting to see their benches and trash cans for the Street scape portion of the grant.
Carousel Day: Julie reported that she submitted the request for grant funding to the Chenango County Arts Council. She has a draft of a rack card for Carousel Day, which was required for the grant application. She submitted a press release for request for art work for the Carousel Day Poster. The Knights of Columbus will not be a vendor this year. A new vendor will be Salamida Spiedies. We could use another food vendor, if anyone has suggestions.
Julie told us that Mike Allen who used to work at Home Depot and helped with the flower boxes in 2010, now works at Sam's Club. He donated 40 Amaryllis plants to JC Partners. We are going to keep them in a protected place over the winter and try to save them until December, when they will bloom again. We would like to use them for a fundraiser.
Music Event: Corinna is working on the music events for the third Thursdays of May-Sept this year. She is looking for suggestions for a catchy name. Equinox radio said they will help with cars and bands-Corinna is having further meetings with them. We need a major sponsor for the event and paid ads from businesses in the downtown. The businesses need to be open on the Thursday nights of the events with some incentives to draw customers to them. She suggested we have a raffle for a product or service and people have to register at one of the businesses.
Julie reported that 253 Main Street has been remodelled by a private investor and he is looking for a business to move in there. She said he might be willing to have some type of event there to encourage people to look at the building.
The next Johnson City Partners meeting is Feb 13, 2013 at 7PM. This is also the annual meeting with election of officers taking place.
The meeting was adjourned at 9:20 PM.
