Membership Committee: Barb invited Don to attend our meeting. We discussed ways to get the word out about our organization. Notification on facebook through the “Grow JC” page was discussed as well as the possibility of an Open House in the month of February for the purpose of recruiting members.
Julie proposed a resolution to change Article 4 of our bylaws. Currently three (3) officers and two (2) members are required to form a meeting quorum for voting. It is proposed that it be changed to three (3) officers and one (1) member until such time as there are regularly eight (8) members in attendance at monthly meetings. It will be further discussed next month.
NY Main St. Design Review Committee: Landscape architect submitted final plans for designs at the Dollar General corner and Veteran’s Park. Sixteen (16) waste cans and four (4) benches are on order. Three (3) buildings are complete – 214 Main Street (Health Beat), 16 Willow Street (Dancescapes), and 209 Main Street (Reveille). 237 Main Street (One Stop Shop) is 60% done- needs electrical work. 240 Main Street, Jupiter Games is 40% complete. 247 Main Street is in process. 256 Main Street (Giblin’s) is 60% done. 257 Main Street (old Bernie) is waiting for awnings, Baxter’s is 75% complete. Signs for NY Main Street Design designation are out to bid.
Holiday Parade: December 5- Corinna and Donna will carry the JCP banner.
Lights on the Carousel- We have the opportunity to sell refreshments there in December, but it was decided that we do not have enough volunteers to staff this event.
Gatherings at the Gazebo with holiday music at the gazebo will be held December 4, 13, and 18.
Third Thursday Cruze-Inz survey comments are as follows: 31/32 agreed that the location was satisfactory, 28/32 said the food options were satisfactory, 27/32 reported that the day and time worked well, 30/32 liked the raffles, and 30/32 liked the entertainment. We discussed the possibility of moving it to a different day next year so we do not conflict with a similar event in Greene. We will discuss this further at a later time.
Committee Chairs for Carousel Day and Cruze-Inz need to break down jobs into subcommittees- advertising, poster contest, layout, sponsors, and food vendors. Next year’s carousel days will be July 26th 2014. We need to set up a separate carousel committee after the first of the year.
Audit for Carousel Day; Barb has been in touch with Virginia Wood at Vestal Museum to complete the Arts Council audit.
Next Meeting: Wednesday. December 11th, at 7 pm at Village Hall.
Meeting adjourned at 9:09 pm.
