JC Revitalization Program Update – Julie- Every dollar of the grant has been spent. Files are all in order and ready for the state to come and monitor the grant on November 14. Several sites will be open for visitation. A new NYS Main Street Anchor Building Grant is available and due in July. Julie is looking into that.
CFJ Park Master Gardeners update – Barbara e-mailed Cornell Cooperative Extension and received a response back from 4 master gardener interns as well as a woman from Johnson City. We will invite them to attend the December meeting to discuss possible plans for the project.
Webmaster search update- We continue to look for an individual to manage our website
Meeting Minutes (Website)- Marcia and Donna have submitted all previous months’ corrected meeting minutes to Jim to be posted on the website.
We received a letter of thanks and a certificate for applying for the Greater Binghamton Chamber of Commerce 2014 Community Advocate of the Year Award. We were not chosen for the award, but were commended for our work in the community.
New Item for discussion – Julie introduced Diane Salva, co-chairperson of the Johnson City Celebration Committee. Diane spoke to us about the committee’s need to insure the future of the Celebration Committee. They need to separate from the village. It would be best to organized as part of a 501(c)(3) organization. Their Lights on the Carousel event is in keeping with Johnson City Partners mission statement, and we discussed the possibility of working together. A decision on this partnership was tabled until the January meeting at which time we will discuss insurance and legal implications.
501 (c) (3) filing paperwork progress- Julie reported that all final paperwork is complete
Stakeholders Meeting idea – Marcia proposed coordinating a meeting for downtown merchants to make a master plan about what can be done to make our village more inviting to students and faculty that will be part of the new Binghamton University Pharmacy School. Marcia will work on an outline for the initiative, and we will plan an initial informational meeting for April 2015.
Additional Comments- Corinna- Two (2) videos have been made showing pictures of Main Street. We will ask Jim to post the nonmusical version on the JCP website
Barb suggested we gather for a volunteer recognition receptions as we celebrate the receipt of our 501(c)(3) status. Dates and venues will be discussed at next month’s meeting.
Julie thanked everyone who helped with the many downtown clean-up efforts this fall.
