Treasurer’s Report: Account bank statements as of July 31, 2016
Checking account: $ 1686.58
Park savings account: $5218.99
Revitalization savings: $188.75
Regina made a motion to accept the Treasurer’s report, seconded by Julie, unanimous approval.
Membership: Barb called some people to remind them about the meeting tonight.
Cruze-Inz: Corinna contacted Scott Freeman and he confirmed for August 25th. Red’s Kettle Inn will donate pizzas for the volunteers. At this time, most of the sponsor money has been used, as we have had no cancellations due to rain. We may need more sponsors next year to cover the cost of the bands.
Regina offered to help with the 50/50 raffle if Pat Genarelli is not at the Cruze-In. Eddie also volunteered to help at Cruze-In.
We discussed dedicating the September Cruze-In to Veterans. Rich Wilson is the performer. We talked about having some raffle items just for Veterans. Corinna will collect and organize the raffle items.
Old Business: Downtown Clean-up - Corinna said we have put cayenne pepper in some of the tree boxes to keep the dogs from using them.
CFJ Park - Julie talked with W&W Nursery and they are recommending we should plant trees in the Spring of 2017. We can call Dig Safely in September and ask JC DPW to tell us where we can plant, so that we can do a perc test. We might have to choose a different tree variety, depending on what is available in the spring.
Julie submitted an application for a grant from Williams, to help with the beautification project at CFJ Park. She received notice that JC Partners will receive a check for $2500 from Williams. Julie is proposing that the grant money be used to purchase additional benches along the sidewalk. This grant is called “Home Grown Giving”, and is awarded to an organization where an employee volunteers and is requesting funds that will benefit the community. There was a discussion about accepting money from companies and other sources. The group indicated they would like to vote on whether to accept the money after learning more about the company that is donating it. Julie will provide a link to the Williams website and suggested we hold the check until Donna gets back next month and the members can then vote on the donation.
Carousel Day- Some people have volunteered to help plan Carousel Day for 2017, including Eddie Wavra, Regina Ross and Kristen O’Rourke. Also some women at the Community of Christ Church have offered to help. It was suggested that a committee of interested persons get together at the end of
September and discuss the planning and sponsorship of Carousel Day.
New Business: Marcia informed the group of a program being sponsored on September 20th by PAST and the Goodwill Theatre at the Firehouse Stage. Elise Johnson-Schmidt, a preservation architect will talk about Downtown Revitalization and Development. Marcia will work with Dai Newman to
promote this program to downtown business and building owners.
Additional Comments: Jeff Davis, a food vendor, will be selling food items at JC Field Days and will give us a percentage of his profits from that event.
Julie has several jars of acrylic paints that we had purchased for a mural project a few years ago. We will ask the JC Senior Citizens Center if they want them, as we currently have no use for them.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:51PM.
The next meeting is September 21, 2016 at 7:00PM at the JC Senior Citizens Center.
