JCNP National Night Out was held August 7th at the Schorr Family Firehouse Stage. Julie thanked Corinna, Marcia and Tammy for setting up the JCP Table, overseeing the game and prizes.
We are planning on selling Pagoda T-shirts through the on-line site Booster, which we used previously.
Julie said that Greg has a photo of the Pagoda and will work on the graphic design for the T-shirt. Julie asked for suggestions for wording on the shirts.
Downtown tree boxes-”Adopt a Tree Box Program”. Julie reported that the Police Chief had some volunteers work on the weeds in the boxes. The village is going to be removing the wood borders and any dead trees. The square of dirt will remain around the trees. There are approx. 22 tree boxes.
Julie suggested that Home Depot might help with new wood borders around the trees. Corinna said that the Firehouse Stage offered tickets, if we have a contest for “Best Box”. We need a map of where the boxes are located. A suggestion was made that maybe we should just try to establish an ongoing care program, rather than a contest.
Potential help: School of Pharmacy, Boy Scouts, Ed & Sheila O'Hara, Karen Beebe, Firehouse Stage
Goal/Plan: Document the tree boxes, map where they are located, approach the nearby businesses to ask if they are interested in caring for the boxes. If not, we will ask volunteers to adopt them. We are asking adopters to pull weeds, clean-up around the box and plant flowers.
Cruze-In: We cancelled July's Cruze-In due to threatening weather and extreme heat. It was suggested that we have a JC Cruze-In facebook page to inform people of cancellations and if we cancel the band, due to weather, we might want to show up in case any car owners attend.
Corinna reminded us we still need donations for the Sept 19th Cruze-In in honor of Veterans.
May & June meeting minutes: We made corrections to the minutes, which we will vote on at the next meeting. We will ask Mary to make the corrections before posting on the website.
Meeting was adjourned at 8:30PM
